Ultra Filteration

Ultra Filteration

Ultra filtration (UF) a membrane-technology is used to eliminate particle, microbiological pollutants, and organic natural material from feed water. UF is widely used to pre-treat surface water, seawater, and municipal water and wastewater that have undergone biological treatment. The silt density index of water can also be decreased via ultra-filtration. There are several hollow membrane fibers inside the UF module. Different channels can be found in each membrane fiber. These channels have extraordinarily smooth walls and tiny openings.

To avoid the adverse effects of fouling on permeability and selectivity, the membrane is frequently clean. Hydraulic backwashing is generally performed for a short period of time to remove cake layers that have built up on the membrane surface.

Scaling and bio fouling are more complex types of fouling that hydraulic backwashing cannot effectively remove. It needs chemically enhanced backwashing (CEB) to get rid of such types of foulants.
